Family Counseling
A strong family unit provides children with a sense of belonging and value and offers a healthy network of social support. Family coaching as a group or through individual therapy can help create that strong family unit. All families have conflict. It's normal. However, when a conflictual habitual state is the norm for the household, and it doesn't feel good to you, it may be time to make some changes. Being a child of divorce and a product of a blended, and then blended again, family I understand intimately the unique dynamics that these situations can foster.
Let’s face it, it isn’t always the “Cleavers”, that simply wouldn't be reality. Sometimes the conflict is caused by the behavior of one or more family members and its affects on everyone. |
While I work with those individuals to try to help them understand the cause and consequences of their actions, I view the entire family unit as my client. It is helpful, but not always necessary, for each family member to learn how to support themselves and each other, AND to set loving and healthy boundaries.
Families can be thought of as a system of interacting parts. The actions of one person can affect the others and vice versa, and each member plays his part in the problem. It is never too late to learn how to be a part of the solution. Refuse to pass down the dysfunctional patterns of your family of origin. As a team, our goal will be to create a healthy family system and to do what is best for the entire family. |
